Driving to the Disco Beat…

Whether you are in to weather or not, it still seems to affect us all. The luck of the Irish did not seem to be with us as our hopes of fair skies for a start to the season turned into wind and rain on an impressive scale. So one by one our fleet decided to stay safely tied to the dock at home. This was probably a good plan since Sunday would prove to be just as ugly!  But Saturday was another adventure.

Saturday evening we had quite a group of hearty souls who ventured out and made the drive by land yacht to Discovery Bay Yacht Club. We enjoyed conversation over a few rounds of drinks and then were treated to a wonderful meal of Corned Beef and Cabbage prepared by one of their members. We learned that this was an old family recipe and that it had been cooked all day in Guinness!  Phillip is not always a fan of Corned Beef but he said he really liked it.

We know that the weather was not favorable but we were sorry to see most of the group leave so soon after dinner. A bit later in the evening the club provided live music by a really good trio for our listening and dancing pleasure. We stayed awhile and had a lot of fun. I will add though that in talking to the club officers that they had been really pleased to see so many of our group still come out for dinner in such nasty weather, and I thank you all for that.
