DEVIL’S ISLE, INC.
HARBORMASTER DUTIES AND GUIDELINES
DUTIES
1. The Harbormaster should plan to be at the Island a couple of hours in
advance of the scheduled arrival of the boats to allow enough time to inspect,
clean and generally prepare the Island.
2. Wash down the decks, walkways, tables, benches, walls and chairs.
Do not start the water pump until you turn on the hose faucet. Set up chairs
.Raise the flag at 0800 hours each morning and take it down at sunset each
evening.
3. Aid in the docking of all arriving boats (stern-in tie-up). Side-tie
only if space is available. Leave 8 feet of open space on either
side of the swim platform.
4. Placement of boats is skippers’ choice, however the Harbormaster
should discourage the use of the fingers by larger boats to avoid excessive
strain on the docks. This applies to visiting clubs as well.
5. Generator hours of operation are from 0800 to 2200 (10:00 PM), unless
otherwise agreed on by all boats.
6. Monitor safety practices – No running on decks or docks. No tie-up
of dinghies at the swim platform.

at the log desk.

and from the visiting club Cruise Director prior to their departure.

and the flag.
GUIDELINES
1. Additional member boats: There is no docking charge
for a member’s second boat (i.e. run-abouts, ski-boats, dinghies,
PWC’s, etc.), however a member’s main cruising boat has space
and location priority at the docks. On crowded weekends these second boats
may have to tie up on the back of the dock.
2. Young child safety: It should be highly encouraged that
children 10 years old and younger, wear an approved PFD at all times, including
while on the docks.
3. Guest boats: A regular member may invite one guest boat
at a charge of $25 per night. No guest boats on DI Holiday weekends.

that all boats (member and guest) comply with the Island’s published
Marine Head Regulations.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES FOR VISITING CLUBS
1. The Island may be rented to visiting clubs during any weekday and on
weekends selected in advance by the board of directors, during June, July
and August. If you are Harbormaster for one of these visiting clubs,
confirm with Vice Chairperson that the visiting club has completed and returned
all required forms and insurance verification.
2. Contact the club’s Cruise Director in advance of the scheduled
visit date (name and contact information available from the Chairperson
or Vice Chairperson) to confirm the expected number of boats and agree on
arrival and departure times. Inform them that you will be standing by on
Channel 72 and will assist with docking.
3. To prepare the Island, you may need to arrive as much as 4 hours in advance
of the visiting club, unless the Island has already been cleaned.
4. Before the club’s departure, collect the appropriate amount of
fees according to the fee schedule in effect at the time. The current
rates are $200 per night for 8 boats or less or $25 per boat per night over
8 boats.
5. All above guidelines as well as Devil’s Isle Rules apply to visiting
clubs as well as members.
TRESPASSERS: Just asking them to leave usually works,
however if a problem occurs and can not be handled by you or other Island
members, contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff at: 209-468-4400
